Autumn is approaching and with it our AGM with its annual review of the year.
This year has been a particularly busy year, once again, and the Committee has been beavering away to bring together a programme of events and activities over the last 12 months.
One of our main areas of focus has been to improve communications and introduce this new DDAGS website. The ‘new look’ DDAGS also has an updated logo and we have had new posters and banner printed. To complete the refreshed look we have also published new quarterly Newsletters and new Membership Cards in November 2019.
We have welcomed a handful of new Members this year, bringing our total Membership to 52 – including 5 Affiliate Groups. Our Affiliations to the National Allotment Society and Norfolk and Norwich Horticultural Society allow us to benefit from advice, events and talks that we are not able to run ourselves, but which provide benefits to us all as Members.
The jewel in our crown is the Summer Show, and this year saw an amazing array of flowers, fruit, vegetables, home produce and crafts. Many thanks go to all the exhibitors who worked hard to produce various items worthy of display. The Memorial Hall provides a great venue for the show and we hope to build on this next year.
Our two garden visits in May and September this year were to Hindringham and Stow Hall. Whilst we were only a small group to both venues, those that went had the opportunity to visit two really lovely gardens – each with areas of special interest.
